Cape Town, The Cosmopolitan City

It is known as the most cosmopolitan city in Africa. Indeed Cape Town enjoys a seafarer’s tradition. This open mindedness reflects in the cultural and commercial activities and the city’s lifestyle, which becomes impregnated with a festive touch at the end of the year.

The Cape region, dominated by the famous Table Mountain, hosts many treasures, the most well-known itinerary along the Cape wine estates on the route through Cape Floral Kingdom, from Somerset West going, Stellenbosch, P’niel, Franschhoek, Paarl and Wellingtion, all the way through to Ceres. The wine estates (the oldest date back from 1685) produce award-winning wines and offer lovely local folklore to delight the visitor. The latter is welcome to taste the fruit of the vine, the local wines and get a few bottles to take home as a souvenir.

Cape Town also has a deeply rooted seafarer’s tradition inherited from the first immigrants more than four centuries ago. At the meeting point between the Indian and the Atlantic Oceans, Cape Town features superb beaches such as Clifton, Camp Bay, Sea Point, Milnerton and Blaaubergstrand, even if the waters of the Atlantic Ocean can be quite cool.

On the Indian Ocean side, where the water is warmer, take a drive to to False Bay and Boulders Beach well-known for its penguin’s colony and visit Fish Hooks Saint James or Nuremburg.

As far as culture and education are concerned, Cape Town has a lifestyle of its own since it hosts the most famous university on the continent as well as many prestigious schools, catering for a large population of students. The Cape Town Opera has become a reference for those looking for ballets, operas and other major cultural productions in the region.

Last but not the least, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is the ideal place to a walk, do some shopping or simply enjoy great entertainment. The restaurants offer a wide range of international menus, with a focus on seafood and local traditional dishes. And the boutiques display the latest fashion as well as stunning craft that reflect the colourful and creative local spirit.

Visit a big cat sanctuary and see white lions, tigers, caracals, cheetahs, and leopards. Highlights

Close encounter with wildlife
Enjoy a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city
Family friendly
All entrance fees included
You will be collected from your accommodation in Cape Town between 8:30am and 9am and travel a short journey to Stellenbosch.

Start the tour off with a steaming hot beverage of your choice at your first wine farm of the day where you will wait in eager anticipation for the 1000 plus Indian Runner Ducks to be led past us as they go to work in the vineyards. This waddling workforce is essential to the farm’s pest-control, consuming a startling amount of snails and bugs on their daily patrols. You will then be whisked away to another nearby wine estate for a wine tasting of their delectable award winning wines plus have the opportunity of stroking a few owls and taking pictures with them. Another highlight of this tour is you will also be able to hold an eagle (with a thick glove of course)! Birds of prey keep the farm’s ecosystem in balance, making it possible to naturally control pests, without pesticides. Enjoy up-close-and-personal interactions with eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, kites, buzzards, snakes and lizards. Take part in heart-stopping falconry displays, where they fly birds to you. Kids will also enjoy our piglets, rabbits, tortoises, chickens and unique playground.

A five minute drive to your next stop where you will be given an hour for lunch at a top Stellenbosch restaurant. Hudson’s Restaurant boasts spectacular views of the Helderberg mountain and, partnered with their delicious food and their staff’s passion for quality and service, the restaurant is arguably one of the best in the Stellenbosch winelands. Please note lunch is for your own account.

After lunch you will be treated to a visit to the Big Cats Park which offers a unique experience not to be found anywhere else along the Stellenbosch wine route, where you can both view and learn more about these majestic creatures that may well one day cease to exist in anything but our history books.

After all that excitement you will end your tour with another wine tasting at Meerlust Estate which is long recognized for producing world-class wines, and has been the pride of the Myburgh family since 1756. Today, the traditional dedication to the art of winemaking continues under the guidance of Hannes Myburgh, eighth generation custodian of this seventeenth-century national monument. Travel back to your accommodation at around 4.30pm

Discover South Africa’s famous wine regions on this full-day private tour to Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. Highlights:

– Enjoy a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city
– Get inside tips from a local
– Hotel pickup included
– Private tour is operated with just your party and a guide/driver
– Leave Cape Town behind and head off by luxury minivan to the Stellenbosch wine region – famous for its Mediterranean climate and fertile soils that help to produce millions of liters of wine each year.

Your first stop of the day is a small Stellenbosch wine estate called Muratie, much loved by locals, with bags of charm. Its traditional cellars are typified by ramshackle walls and worn paintings — adding to its rustic charm. Sample the estate’s fortified wine and locally produced chocolate – a winning combination!

With your expert guide, hop back in your minivan and continue your journey northwest to the Paarl wine region, home to leading wine producers like Fairview and Nederburg. Stop at the Fairview Wine Estate and tour its large cellars, trying out several of their famed white wines and cheeses.

Lunch takes place in the gourmet capital of South Africa – Franschhoek – roughly 5 miles (8 km) away. Your private guide will point out the best sidewalk cafes and restaurants, and then leave you to enjoy lunch at your own expense.

In the early afternoon your tour continues to the Haute Cabriere or Dieu Donne, another notable Franschhoek vineyard set high up in the Helderberg mountain range. The views from here are simply incredible, with surrounding vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see. Soak up the views and sample the estate’s fine wines, leaning about the slow ripening of grapes in mountain viticulture.

Your last wine estate visit is Boschendal, one of South Africa’s oldest wine producers, with a wine-making heritage that dates back to the 17th century. The gorgeous farm estate houses state-of-the-art cellars, and it’s here that you’ll enjoy the day’s final wine-tasting session alongside rows of beautiful oak barrels. Relax on the journey back to Cape Town, where you’ll arrive in the early evening.
